Abstract
The emergence of digital technologies as a primary means of communication has transformed
how information is managed and disseminated, leading to changes like information technology
(IT) in the world of work. The paper also discusses the importance of digital literacy skills, user
experience or user-centric design, the need for training and development opportunities to support
librarians' adaptability to IT, and the need for undergraduate students to develop appropriate
skills to improve their employability. This paper uses a desktop literature review to explore the
changing nature of IT, users' experience and satisfaction with the use of IT, as well as the
adaptability of information workers towards IT to satisfy users' information needs. Librarians
play a critical role in providing information services to users and must continuously adapt their
skills to meet the growing demands of users in the digital age.
