APPLICATION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES BY LIBRARIANS FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY IN JOSEPH SARWUAN TARKA UNIVERSITY LIBRARY, MAKURDI, BENUE STATE

Abstract
This study e'amined the application of information and communication technology for effective
library services delivery among Professional librarians in Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University
Makurdi, Benue State. The study adopted survey research design; questionnaire was used as the
primary instrument for data collection on the application of information and communication
technology for effective library services delivery among librarians in Joseph Sarwuan Tarka
University Makurdi Benue State. The population for the study comprises of 46 professional
librarians. Census sampling method was used to sample all the professional librarian. The data
collected were analyzed using means, tables and standard deviations. Findings of the study
revealed that that access to information and communication technology resources in Joseph
Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi is to a Low e'tent, librarians utilize information and
communication technology resources in Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi to a high
e'tent and effective application of information and communication technology resources
influences library service delivery among professional librarians in Federal University of
Agriculture Makurdi. The study however recommended that: the management of Joseph
Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi should subscribe to online databases to enable staff of the
library, have access to more current information that will improve on their services delivery to its
users.
