Abstract
The study examined the Motivation to use Artificial Intelligence tools by librarians in Oyo State,
Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey-correlational research design and a total
enumeration sample procedure of 73 librarians from nine universities in Oyo State, Nigeria. The
study instrument was a structured questionnaire, data was analysed using SPSS statistical data
and results were presented in frequency count, simple percentages, means, standard deviation,
Pearson Product-Moment Correlation (PPMC) and visualise in tables. The findings indicated that
use of AI tools by librarian is low with mean score of x=1.84, however, ChatGPT and
Grammarly were the most used. Intelligent search and discovery: to discover relevant resources
more efficiently (x =2.87), is the highest purpose of use of AI tools, the level of user expectancy
(x = 3.20), performance expectancy (x = 3.27), facilitating condition (x =3.37) and social
influence (x =2.69) were all above the threshold (x =2.5) and the Motivation to use AI has
significant relationship on use of AI tools by librarians with p-value (r=.287, n=60, p(.026)
