Abstract
This study examined the availability and utilization Electronic Resources by students in academic libraries in Yobe State, Nigeria. The objectives of the study determined the availability of electronic resources in university libraries, the level of electronic resources use by students in university libraries and the factors affecting electronic resources usage by students in all the three tertiary institutions libraries. The study used survey research design. The research design used was a descriptive survey. The study population consisted of 9481 students drawn from the three institutions of this study. Sample size of 370 students was drawn using research advisor table using a simple random sampling technique. Checklist and questionnaire were used as data collection instruments. The instrument was validated and the reliability of the pretest was r=0.84. The 328 Data that was collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts and percentage scores, giving us a response rate of 93%. The study unveiled that the electronic resources were found to be available from the three institution libraries, furthermore, the study revealed that the level of e-resources utilization also clearly indicates moderately used in the three institution libraries. Consequently, the study also showed that all the outline factors have effect on student's e-resources usage in these three institution libraries especially slow internet connectivity, power outage and insufficient computers. Therefore, it is recommended that the institution libraries should often make electronic resources available for students to utilize since the world is currently on technology mode and all the challenges should be addressed.
