Abstract
The study investigated types of cybersecurity threats and digital preservation of
information resources in Nigerian libraries. Three objectives, three research questions and
three hypotheses were developed to guide the study. The study used survey research
design. The population of the study comprised thirty-five (35) librarians chosen from three
libraries in Cross River State. The entire population was used for the study since it was
small and manageable. A structured questionnaire was used to gather data for the study.
The statistical method employed to test the hypotheses at the .05 level of significance was
simple regression analysis. The findings showed that denial-of-service (DoS) attacks,
malware attacks, and data breaches had a significant influence on digital preservation of
information resources. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among
others that; the government and non-governmental organizations should provide the
needed funds for the procurement of up-to-date ICT facilities in libraries to aid the fight
against cyber threats and that the library management should organize awareness
programs for library staff to cultivate a security-conscious culture within the library.
