Abstract
Artificial Intelligence is transforming library operations by enhancing information retrieval, automating routine services, and improving user experience. However, its implementation in academic libraries in Nigeria remains constrained by several institutional and technological factors. Anchored on Technological Acceptance Model (TAM), the study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised 78 librarians from five state-owned tertiary institution libraries in Enugu State. A census sampling technique was employed, while data were collected using a researchers-developed questionnaire titled Challenges and Enhancement Strategies of AI Implementation Questionnaire (CESAIIQ). 75 valid copies of the questionnaire, representing a 96.15% response rate, were returned and analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed six (6) major challenges, nine (9) prospects and six (6) enhancement strategies of AI implementation in academic libraries in Enugu State, Nigeria with the cluster means of 3.45, 3.68, and 3.89 respectively. The study recommends increased funding, strengthened ICT infrastructure, continuous professional development, and collaborative partnerships to promote AI-driven library services in tertiary institutions.
